HOLIDAY ROME
Tips for a Great Holiday in Rome!
Coming
to Rome for vacation? Of course some information about where to sleep,
where to eat, and where to have fun is always useful! To help you
organize your stay in the best possible way, we have found some places
in the center of the city that will help you have a happy, relaxing stay
in Rome.
If you are looking for an alternative to a hotel, don't worry. There are plenty of other options, including the Residence Villa Marignoli, near Villa Borghese. This restructured castle offers two room apartments and suites that offer amazing views of the complex's garden. Each apartment has an air conditioning unit, heating, TV and VCR. There are good discounts offered for those staying over three months.
Even in the center of the city and the middle of all the action, you can still feel at home and relaxed in a Bed and Breakfast. Furnished with all comforts and with a refined atmosphere, B&Bs are an interesting alternative to hotels. Most are very close to either Saint Peters, the Colosseum, Via Veneto, the Spanish Steps or Trastevere. Where to Eat Rome is a city that offers so many different restaurants and cuisines that everyone can find something delicious and within their price range.
One of the best places in the city to try the traditional Roman Jewish cuisine is the restaurant Giggetto al Portico d'Ottavia, located in the heart of the Jewish Ghetto ( Via Arenula). Some of the typical plates offered include artichokes, fried salt cod, and oven-baked lamb. Also, inside the restaurant are some interesting artifacts dating back to the ancient Roman times, including a well and the mould for a basin.
Baires, on Corso Rinascimento, offers some of the most delicious Argentinean plates in the city. The menu, heavily based on meat, also includes a variety of South American wines. The restaurant also has tango and folklore shows on a regular basis. Where to Have Fun
The famous Hard Rock Cafe also has a location here in Rome, on Via Veneto. Offering American cuisine, there is always a great selection of music playing, a wide array of rock and roll memorabilia, and a shop with t-shirts and other souvenirs. It is possible to organize private parties and gatherings.
If you would rather dance the night away, the disco TinaPika offers some of the best cabaret in Italy. After the show, the place turns into a dance club, playing commercial music and house. Wednesdays are dedicated to Latin American music. The club also offers various snacks and drinks.
For lovers of live music, the club Big Mama offers some of the best blues, rock and jazz concerts in the city. Located on Viale Trastevere, the joint has a well-stocked bar and has a dinner menu as well. There are about 150 seats in the club, but reservations are always recommended.
Another interesting place in Trastevere is the pub A Tempo Perso. The interior has ancient fixtures, but is still modern with music and TV to follow important sporting events while sipping a beer and eating sandwiches, first plates and appetizers. The pub also has a room for dancing, with tables that are hoisted up against the wall to let the guests dance freely.
